PREP NOTES

Lena Malinowski, an outside hitter and middle blocker on the Capistrano Valley girls’ volleyball team, has signed a letter of intent to play at Hofstra, her father, Edward, said Friday. Malinowski received an athletic scholarship from the university, which is in Hempstead, N.Y.

Pete Silvey, a linebacker and tight end at Mater Dei, has committed to play football at Cal State Northridge, the school announced. Silvey, 6 feet 4 and 225 pounds, lives in Mission Viejo.
