A 17-year old boy was killed and two other youths were wounded in a stabbing and fight outside a house in an affluent area of Rancho Palos Verdes on Tuesday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies reported.

Deputies said the three were stabbed after a confrontation between two groups of youths in the 5300 block of Manitowac Drive.

Details were sketchy late Tuesday, and names were withheld pending notification of the victims’ families. Neighbors said the house is occupied by a couple and their teen-age children, but deputies said the victims were visitors.

Deputies said the incident erupted when several youths arrived to visit a teen-ager who turned out not to be in the house. Upon their arrival, Deputy Benita Hinojos said, at least three other youths approached the visitors “and a confrontation resulted that started with a fistfight and turned into a stabbing.”

Hinojos said the cause of the confrontation was unclear. No suspects were in custody late Tuesday.
