ROUNDUP : Edison Routs Marina in Sunset Meet

Sophomores Kelly Marshall, Marie Philman and Kerry O’Bric led Edison to a 102-25 victory over Marina in a Sunset League girls’ track and field meet Thursday at Edison.

Marshall won the 200, the 400 and ran the anchor legs on the 400 and 1,600 relay teams. Philman won the 100 hurdles, the high jump, the shot put and the discus. O’Bric took first in the 300 hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump for Edison (6-0, 4-0 in league).

In another Sunset League meet:

Fountain Valley 88, Huntington Beach 39--Marlene Lang won the 100 meters (12.9), 100 hurdles (15.7) and 300 hurdles (48.1) for visiting Fountain Valley. Monica Geraci won the discus (102-4) for Huntington Beach (2-2, 2-2).

In the Sea View League:

Irvine 110, Tustin 17--Jennifer Gillis won the 800 (2:26.0) for visiting Irvine. Jennifer Bullock won the long jump (15-2) and the triple jump (32-0) for host Tustin (0-4).

In the South Coast League:

Mission Viejo 71, El Toro 56--Junior Beth Merkle won the 400 (58.1), 300 hurdles (47.2), long jump (16-9 3/4), and anchored the winning 400-meter relay (50.9) for host Mission Viejo (1-0, 1-0). Marlena Godbolt threw a personal best 105-7 1/2 in the discus for the Diablos.

Dana Hills 84, San Clemente 43--Ursula Luna won the 200 and the 400 for Dana Hills and Nancy Dollar won the 1,600 and the 3,200 for San Clemente.

In the Garden Grove League:

Los Amigos 71, Rancho Alamitos 55--Spring Trammel won the discus (111.6) and the shot put (35-5) and Carmela Zavala won the 880 (2:40.8) and the mile (6:05.1) for Los Amigos (3-1).

In South Coast League boys’ track and field:

Capistrano Valley 136, Mater Dei 0--Alberto Sanchez won the 1,600 (4:30.1) and the 3,200 (9:42.5) for host Capistrano Valley (1-0 in league). Mater Dei failed to show up for the scheduled meet and no one called to say the team wasn’t coming, according to Capistrano Valley Coach Tom White. White said he attempted to contact Mater Dei but got no answer at the school.

Justin Horey won the long jump (21-0 1/2) and the triple jump (42-11) for Capistrano Valley.

Dana Hills 79, San Clemente 61--Micah Denison won the 200 (22.5) and the 400 (50.8) for visiting Dana Hills (4-0, 2-0). David Cruickshank of Dana Hills threw a personal best 148-10 in the discus. Ryan Stevens won the high jump with a jump of 6-0.

Mission Viejo 70, El Toro 66--Freshman Michael Smith won two events, the long jump (20-3 3/4) and the triple jump (40-9) for host Mission Viejo (1-0, 1-0).

In the Sea View League:

Irvine 71, Tustin 64--Chris Barrozo ran a 4:32.1 in the 1,600 for host Tustin. Junior Reggie Curry won the long jump (20-8) and triple jump (44-8) for Tustin (1-3, 1-3).

Woodbridge 83, University 48--Gary Young won the 100 yard (10.19) and 200 (23.2) for Woodbridge (4-0). Sepher Sharifi won the shot put (48-4) and discus (157-1) for University (0-5, 0-4).

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 72, Huntington Beach 64--Viraxay Pravongviengkham won the long jump (19-11 1/2) and triple jump (39-1), Travis Fisher won the 1,600 (4:38.8) and 3,200 (10:07) and Robert Heckman won the pole vault (13-6) for Huntington Beach (2-2, 2-2).

Marina 102, Edison 34--Sven Northcott set a school record with a mark of 14-7 in the pole vault to lead Marina (5-0, 4-0). Jason Bader won the shot put (47-2) and the discuss (163-5) for Edison (2-2, 2-2).

In the Garden Grove League:

Rancho Alamitos 65, Los Amigos 62--Mike Ogle won the 100 with a time of 10.6 and captured the long jump (20-3) and the triple jump (37-11) for Rancho Alamitos (3-1). Carlos Sianez won the shot put with a throw of 52-9 and won the discus with a throw of 141-11 for Los Amigos, which fell to 3-1.

In South Coast League golf:

Dana Hills 204, Capistrano Valley 206--Nick Clemente and Dave Marcus each shot five-over 40 at Marbella for Dana Hills (5-1, 4-0). Joe Burks shot 37 and Jeremy Medlin shot 38 for Capistrano Valley.

In Sunset League golf:

Ocean View 185, Marina 207--Mike Bulsombut and Bobby Johnson each shot par 35 at Meadowolark Golf Course for Ocean View.

Huntington Beach 203, Edison 229--Jeff Farley shot a two-over 38 for Huntington Beach (7-1, 5-1) at SeaCliff County Club.

In Garden Grove League tennis:

Los Amigos 11, Santiago 10--Quan Nguyen and Tim Chinen swept No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, to lead Los Amigos (3-8, 2-3).
