Radar Risks Are Feared

I am concerned not only about the NEXRAD radar tower, which has been built in my community, but for all communities where the National Weather Service has built or is planning to build these radar towers.
There is a great debate among scientists concerning the health risks involved with chronic exposure to microwave radiation. I’m worried that the government is partaking in another project that has not been researched with enough accuracy or care to protect the health and lives of our children and families.
My life and many other people’s lives were put at risk by years of above-ground nuclear testing at the Nevada test site from direct exposure and from nuclear fallout. In the early 1960s, at a very young age, I was exposed to nuclear fallout in my community, miles from the Nevada test site. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer before the age of 30, and my doctor attributed it to my early exposure.
I do not want my 2-year-old daughter to be an “acceptable risk” as I was.
