Options in Idyllwild

The letter writer who was dismayed about the Idyllwild Gastronome’s “locals only” attitude was right on target (Letters, March 20.) My family has been visiting Idyllwild since 1957. It is home to many retired people on fixed incomes, and if the Gastronome had to rely on their minuscule pensions, it would close in about a week. This little cafe really takes itself seriously, but it is a relative upstart compared to other local eateries. For friendly service and great food, visitors should join the locals at the Bread Basket.
