A new community group will host a town meeting Thursday at Laguna Hills High School to discuss youth violence and school safety.

Community Action for Public Schools, a political action committee founded in December, has invited six panelists to the 7:30 p.m. meeting in the school’s Little Theatre.

The panelists represent South County public schools, churches, law enforcement and county agencies.

The meeting will be moderated by the League of Women Voters and is the first in a series of town meetings the group will sponsor.

Suzie Swartz, the group’s co-chairwoman, said the goal of the meeting is to ensure that the public schools remain a meeting ground and to inform the public on issues and people affecting public education.

“This town meeting is a call to all those who will work hand-in-hand to strengthen and improve our public schools,” she said.
