Voters Go to Polls Today
More than 50 local elections will be held across Los Angeles County today, including one that has gained national attention as a possible referendum on gun control.
Longtime state Sen. David A. Roberti (D-Van Nuys) was forced into a recall election by a coalition of groups angered by his authorship of legislation that banned military-style assault weapons in California. Most of the other contests are for city council seats.
The polls generally are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m, although the Los Angeles County registrar’s office cautions the hours may vary slightly in some cities.
