ROUNDUP : Woods Makes Five Birdies, Shoots 30 to Lead Western

Western’s Tiger Woods set a school record by shooting five-under-par 30 at Dad Miller Golf Course and led the Pioneers to a 181-234 victory over Savanna in an Orange League match Thursday.
Woods, a senior who has signed with Stanford, opened his nine-hole round by driving the green on the 326-yard first hole. He two putted for birdie, the first of his five.
Bryon Bell, David Dawson, Joe Hallada each shot one-over 36 for the Pioneers (8-3, 4-1), who broke the school record by a stroke. Woods shot 31 at Dad Miller when he was a sophomore.
In another Orange League match:
Valencia 192, Brea-Olinda 207--Sophomore Bruce Campbell shot one-under 36 at Alta Vista for Valencia (11-3, 4-1), which remained tied for first with Western. Brea-Olinda dropped to 3-2 in league.
In Empire League golf:
El Dorado 215, Cypress 232--Ryan Chavez shot one-over 36 for El Dorado (9-5, 3-3) at Cypress Golf Club.
In the Garden Grove League:
Los Amigos 205, Garden Grove 235--John Cone shot three-over 39 at Mile Square for Los Amigos (14-3, 4-0).
In the South Coast League:
El Toro 414, Capistrano Valley 424--Ben Garner shot two-over 72 to lead El Toro at Marbella. Scott Rynders shot 73 for Capistrano Valley (7-5, 1-5).
In Academy League baseball:
Liberty Christian 5, South Gate Southeast Lutheran 2--Sophomore Bryan Davis had a double and two RBIs for Liberty Christian.
In the Sunset League:
Ocean View 6, Santa Ana 4--John Garrett, Kevin Johnson and Scott Foreman combined on a one-hitter for host Ocean View (9-7, 2-2).
In nonleague play:
Heritage Christian 10, Pacific Shores 1--Jay Williams was three for four with two RBIs and Chris Hamacher struck out nine for Heritage Christian (5-4).
In Garden Grove League boys’ swimming:
Los Amigos 120, Bolsa Grande 39--Bryan Morris won the 200 and 500 freestyle for Los Amigos (7-1, 5-0).
In South Coast League boys’ swimming:
El Toro 124, San Clemente 44--Senior Ian Pyka won the 500 freestyle (4:50.8) and the 100 breaststroke (1:02.6) and Terry Dougherty won the 200 individual medley (2:04.6) and the 100 butterfly (56.5) for the Chargers (8-1, 3-0).
In South Coast League girls’ swimming:
El Toro 101, San Clemente 69--Katie Lowes won the 50 and 100 freestyle for El Toro (8-0-1, 2-0-1).
In Century League boys’ volleyball:
Canyon 3, Foothill 0--Senior Matt Cohen had 60 assists to set a school record for Canyon. Brad Olsen recording seven of his 10 kills in the third game and Troy Langley had 19 kills and 13 blocks for the Comanches (9-0, 3-0).
