Deadline for Quake Aid Extended

The nonprofit Community Financial Resource Center, a project of the Los Angeles Community Reinvestment Committee, is offering free assistance to South-Central property and business owners who suffered damage and losses in the Jan. 17 earthquake.

The deadline for applying for earthquake assistance at the center, 4060 S. Figueroa St., has been extended to May 17.

Volunteers from commercial banks assist applicants with packaging and submitting applications, obtaining information on lending programs, acquiring technical assistance and identifying potential rebuilding contractors.

Services are available to businesses and residents in an area bounded by Pico Boulevard to the north, Alameda Street to the east, San Pedro to the south and Venice Beach to the west.
