2 Aftershocks Rattle the Valley
Two more aftershocks of the Jan. 17 Northridge earthquake were felt on the western side of the aftershock zone early Wednesday, Caltech reported. The strongest, magnitude 3.5, occurred at 5:33 a.m. and was centered one mile southwest of Simi Valley. There was also a magnitude 3.1 jolt at 2:39 a.m., centered three miles northwest of Chatsworth.
Altogether, there have been more than 6,000 aftershocks of the Northridge earthquake, a Caltech spokeswoman said.
