CSUN Schedules Pepperdine, UNLV

Pepperdine and Nevada Las Vegas have been added to Cal State Northridge’s 1994-95 men’s basketball schedule, Coach Pete Cassidy said Wednesday.

The Matadors, 8-18 last season, will meet the defending West Coast Conference champion Waves, the sixth NCAA tournament team on their schedule, Jan. 3 at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.

Pepperdine, which lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament, will play at Northridge the following season under terms of the agreement.

“This was long overdo,” said Tim Wilhelm, an assistant athletic director at Pepperdine. “It makes all the sense in the world for both schools.”

Northridge, which will play a home game against Nevada Las Vegas on Jan. 13, will open Nov. 26 against UCLA at Pauley Pavilion. The Matadors’ other games against NCAA tournament teams are Dec. 3 at home against Alabama Birmingham, Dec. 19 at Cincinnati, Jan. 18 at home against California, and a tentative date Jan. 25 against Washington State.
