A 25-year-old man died from gunshot wounds early Sunday, little more than one day after being hit several times in what police are investigating as a gang-related shooting.

Francisco Miramontes of Laguna Hills died early Sunday at Western Medical Center, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Don Robertson said. A second victim injured in the shooting, 20-year-old Guadalupe Acosta of Santa Ana, remains in critical condition at an unidentified hospital, Robertson said.

Miramontes and Acosta were standing in front of an apartment complex on the 400 block of South Shelton Street at about 8:15 Friday night when they were confronted, Robertson said.

Both were shot several times in the lower body, Robertson said. Neither lived at the apartment complex where the shooting occurred, he said.

No arrests have been made, and the assailants were seen leaving in a white pickup.
