In the Century League:

Foothill 5, Villa Park 1--Lauren Bauer had a double, a triple and scored two runs for Foothill (18-6, 6-1), which moved into sole possession of first place. Villa Park is 14-9, 5-2.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 3, Huntington Beach 2 (8)--Fountain Valley (11-8-1, 7-3) upset the sixth-ranked Oilers when Sharon Gillis scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on an error. All of the Barons’ runs were the result of errors.


In the Pacific Coast League golf championship:

Perry wins--Mike Perry of Estancia shot 79-74 for a 153 at El Dorado Golf Course in Long Beach to win the individual title. Teammate Ross Necessary finished second, shooting 81-73 for 154.

In the Sea View League individual golf finals:

Sarracino wins--Corona del Mar sophomore Billy Sarracino shot an 80 and a 75 at San Luis Rey Downs to win the individual league title.


In Sea View League tennis:

University 16 2/3, Woodbridge 4 1/3--Jason Meyers swept his sets at No. 2 singles, losing only two games, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for fifth-ranked University (14-4, 11-2). In doubles, Robbie Wilkins and Seth Turbow lost only two games on their way to a 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 victory. No. 6 Woodbridge is 14-5, 7-4.

In the South Coast League gymnastics finals:

Powell wins all-around title--Capistrano Valley’s Erin Powell took first place in the uneven bars (9.15), balance beam (9.25) and floor exercise (9.3), and won the all-around with a score of 36.45.


Brea-Olinda’s Erica Castillo tied Powell with a 9.3 in the floor exercise and finished second in the all-around (35.85). Brea-Olinda’s Jenna Chapluk tied for first in the vault (8.9) with Capistrano Valley’s Wendy Holt, who finished third in the all-around (35.7).

In Century League boys’ volleyball:

Foothill 3, Canyon 2--Marc Kruse had 34 kills and Craig LeSueur had 70 assists for host Foothill (8-3, 6-1), which won, 15-7, 15-11, 14-16, 13-15, 15-13, and tied No. 9 Canyon (12-1, 6-1) for first.
