CLAREMONT : Unwelcome Tattoo Studio Relocates Outside the City

Share

A tattoo studio, which prompted the City Council to pass a four-month moratorium on tattooing within city limits when the business moved to a shopping center a block from City Hall, has moved out of the city.

Since May 1, Claremont Tattoo has been operating out of a shop in Rancho Cucamonga, at 8036 Archibald Ave., said co-owner Leah Pierce. Although Pierce is appealing her case to the council and the Planning Department, she is unsure whether she will take the city to court.

City officials passed the moratorium March 22 after the tattoo studio moved into The Village, a shopping district near City Hall. A city staff report presented to the council cited worries about needle disposal and the spread of the AIDS virus as the main reasons for the ban.
