Two masked gunmen entered a Northridge home while the residents were watching television and robbed them of an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry, authorities said Thursday.

No one was injured in the robbery, which occurred about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 17000 block of Halstead Street.

Police said the gunmen, who wore nylon over their heads, entered the single-story home through a rear door. They pointed their guns and demanded valuables from the husband and wife, who were in bed watching television.

The robbers, who were in the house for about three minutes, escaped on foot with a small amount of cash and jewelry from a dresser, said Detective Michael Brandt of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division.

“We haven’t had a home invasion in quite some time--at least six months,” Brandt said. “It’s unusual, and we are going to monitor the situation to see that it’s not repeated.”

Police said the robbers wore dark clothing and described them as having medium height and weight.

There were no suspects late Thursday.
