COSTA MESA : Deadline for Fair Entries Is Wednesday
All competitive entries for the Orange County Fair must be at the fairground office by 4 p.m. Wednesday, and postmarked entries that arrive later will not be considered.
More than 23,000 people entered photography, livestock, floral arrangements, visual art and other work in hundreds of contests, fairground spokeswoman Judy Barnes said.
Cash awards, trophies and ribbons are given as prizes, and most work is displayed during the 17-day July fair.
People may compete in amateur, novice and professional categories. There are separate competitions for adults and children.
All together, there are more than 5,000 separate contests, Barnes said. The fair received more than 39,000 entries in 1993, Barnes said.
Entry forms are available at the fairgrounds, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa. Completed forms must be returned there.
