Three aftershocks of the Jan. 17 Northridge earthquake jarred the western San Fernando Valley and eastern Ventura County on Saturday morning.

The quakes were all centered six miles northeast of Simi Valley.

The first occurred at 7:48 a.m. and had a magnitude of 3.1.

About 2 1/2 hours later, two more aftershocks struck back to back, a magnitude 3.2 temblor at 10:14 a.m. and a magnitude 3.6 at 10:15 a.m, according to Kate Hutton of Caltech.

There were no reports of injuries or damage attributed to the trio of quakes.

A stronger aftershock that struck early Wednesday was originally thought to have a magnitude of 4.5, but has now been downgraded to 4.2.

Caltech scientists have said at least one aftershock of 4.0 or larger can be expected once a month in the foreseeable future.
