Elementary and middle-school students and their families from throughout South County are invited to the first Cultural Arts Festival & Showcase and International Food Faire on Saturday at Dana Point Harbor.
The day of family activities includes dancers, theatrical groups, a symphony and an orchestra as well as an array of ethnic foods.
The event, which is sponsored by the Richard Henry Dana Institute for the Arts, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dana Point Youth & Group Facility, 34451 Ensenada Place.
The city of Dana Point has designated the institute as the city’s arts agency to promote multicultural arts and arts education. Institute officials said they hope to make the festival an annual event.
Festival organizers are asking for a donation of $3 for adults and $1.50 for children to help offset costs.
Featured will be performances by Folklorico de Los Ninos, Capistrano Valley Symphony, Master Chorale of Orange County Children’s Chorus, Sea Strings, South Orange County Community Theatre, Pacific Theatre, Pacific Symphony, Opera Pacific, Laguna Playhouse, Ballet Folklorico and the South Coast Storytellers Guild.
The International Food Faire is to include food from Norway, Italy, France, Thailand, Mexico, Spain, China and Greece.
