Soccer fans will have a chance to meet the Swedish World Cup soccer team in a dinner at Gustaf Anders restaurant on June 16. The team plays its first game of the series on June 19 against Cameroon, at the Rose Bowl.

The dinner, which was arranged through the Consulate General of Sweden, is $75 a person, tax and tip included. Proceeds benefit the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, based in Los Angeles.

Guests will dine on a smorgasbord of Scandinavian specialties, including whole poached salmon, pickled herring, Swedish meatballs and more. Autographed World Cup soccer balls will be given away as door prizes.

Barefoot Cellars wines will accompany a meal at JW’s restaurant Friday night.

The dinner ($29 a person, plus tax and tip) begins with tropical fruit salad and white Zinfandel. Following are scallop pot stickers with Sauvignon blanc, a white corn souffle with a Chardonnay and a beef dish served with a Cabernet.

Seating is by reservation only, between 6 and 10 p.m.

California Pizza Kitchen opened its 55th restaurant on Monday, in Mission Viejo. As at its other locations, the Pizza Kitchen is offering 29 varieties of pizzas, including its signature Thai chicken, shrimp-pesto and Caribbean shrimp pizzas.

Piret’s Gallery Bistro will host an artist’s reception tonight from 6 to 9 to showcase the paintings of Ann Marie Anderson, which are on display at the bistro through October.

Anderson’s works reflect her classical-art background and her training in Thailand and Japan. The reception, which is free and open to the public, includes appetizers and wine.

A five-course dinner will accompany the wines of Ferrari-Carano and Goosecross at John Dominis restaurant on Wednesday.

Among the dishes, which were created by chef Lasse Sorensen, are a seafood salad with Goosecross Chardonnay; rabbit served with sweetbreads and wild mushrooms, with a Ferrari-Carano Merlot; and beef wrapped in bacon, with a Ferrari-Carano Cabernet Sauvignon.

The cost is $60 a person, including tax and tip. A reception begins at 7; dinner is at 7:30.
