4.1 Aftershock Rocks Southland
A 4.1-magnitude aftershock to the Jan. 17 Northridge earthquake rattled Southern California on Tuesday night, but it caused only minor damage, authorities said.
There were no injuries reported.
The 10:59 p.m. temblor was centered three miles east-northeast of the city of San Fernando, said Caltech spokesman Jay Aller.
The aftershock, one of more than 8,000 since the Jan. 17 Northridge quake, was felt from Santa Monica to the Santa Clarita Valley.
On Wednesday morning about 7:13 a.m., a 3.1-magnitude aftershock to the 1992 Landers earthquake rocked the Yucca Valley in San Bernadino County, but it caused no serious injuries or damage, authorities said.
