Former Westlake High standout Mike Lieberthal was recalled by the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday to help replace injured All-Star catcher Darren Daulton.

Lieberthal, a former first-round draft choice, was batting .260 in 65 games at Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, the club’s triple-A affiliate in the International League.

Daulton broke a collarbone Tuesday night and was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

Lieberthal is expected to serve as the backup to Todd Pratt, the Phillies’ No. 2 catcher.

Lieberthal, who once hit four home runs in a game at Westlake, had 14 doubles, one homer and 27 runs batted in at Scranton.
