Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Fire Heroes

Flags at fire departments throughout Ventura County will fly at half-staff until Monday to honor the firefighters who lost their lives in Colorado earlier this week while fighting a wildfire, county fire officials said Thursday.
At least 12 “smoke jumpers,” specially trained firefighters with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, died Wednesday while battling the 2,200-acre forest fire near Glenwood Springs, about 180 miles west of Denver.Two firefighters remained missing late Thursday.
Flags at Ventura County fire stations will fly at half-staff from 8 a.m. today until 8 a.m. Monday, spokeswoman Sandi Wells said.
