The World Cup, the planet’s biggest sporting event, comes to a close Sunday at the Rose Bowl. The monthlong tournament started with 24 teams, and on Sunday, 51 games later, it will be down to the final two. The winner will hold the championship title for four years--until 1998, when the World Cup is staged in France. This is the first time that the United States has hosted the tournament.

The World Cup is the world’s most watched television event, with an estimated audience of 2 billion viewers expected Sunday.
