Roberto Baggio, Italy’s forward who was voted the best player in the world in 1993, originally was supposed to wear No. 17 after a random distribution of uniforms.

But the man who missed a crucial penalty kick in the 1990 World Cup in Italy, Roberto Donadoni, wore No. 17 at that time.

Officials quickly grabbed the jersey off Baggio’s back and handed him No. 10.
