Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : Man Steals $5,000 From Area Bank
A man stole about $5,000 from a bank Wednesday afternoon after showing the butt of a handgun to a bank teller, authorities said.
The robbery occurred at about 3:10 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank at 19310 Soledad Canyon Road, said Sgt. Richard Lichten of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. He said the suspect remains at large.
The man walked into the bank, held up a white bag and demanded cash from a teller, according to a sheriff’s report. He then displayed what appeared to be a blue steel handgun of unknown caliber in his waistband.
He drove away from the bank in a black Volkswagen Jetta and was last seen driving south over the Whites Canyon Road bridge behind the bank, Lichten said.
The suspect may be the same man who committed a similar robbery at the bank about a month ago, according to sheriff’s officials. But they emphasized that further investigation is needed.
