Jean F. Perry, who found homes for needy Ventura residents, died Sunday. She was 66.

Mrs. Perry worked for the city’s housing authority from 1971 to 1981, first as housing manager and then as the executive director.

The housing authority uses federal money to finance housing projects for low-income city residents, and helps place residents in homes they can afford.

Abby Aguilera, the city’s current housing manager, said Mrs. Perry was always more concerned with people than paperwork.

“She was a very caring person,” said Aguilera, who worked under Mrs. Perry. “She cared a great, great deal for the people that we served, and they cared very deeply for her.”

Mrs. Perry was also an avid golfer and bridge player. She is survived by a brother, Ronald Jackson; son, David Perry; daughter, Diane Luttrell; and two grandchildren.

The Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura is handling arrangements.
