Caltrans Has Put Ramps on Back Burner

* Earthquake repair to the Simi Valley Freeway in Granada Hills has gotten back-burner treatment by Caltrans. Six months after the quake, the undamaged on and off ramps at Hayvenhurst Avenue and Balboa Boulevard are not yet reopened.

Caltrans says reopening the ramps would be dangerous to the freeway traffic. This is a ludicrous excuse. Why would freeway drivers in Granada Hills suddenly become dangerous on ramps while everywhere else acts sanely?

The closed ramps are a constant nuisance to thousands of residents and businesses. The public deserves better treatment from Caltrans.
