Share

A 29-year-old woman stabbed and killed a younger, distant relative Monday in a dispute about a how much money she owed him for baby-sitting, authorities said.

Toriano Jackson, 24, of Lancaster went to the Lancaster home of Sherrel Crayton to collect what he claimed was a $25 debt, said Lt. Derry Benedict of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The two quarreled in the street, Benedict said, and Crayton allegedly stabbed Jackson in the chest with a steak knife. Jackson was pronounced dead at 11:16 p.m. at Lancaster Community Hospital, Benedict said.

Sheriff’s deputies said they were not sure how the two were related, but said the two had family members in common.

Crayton is being held on charges of first-degree murder, said Sgt. Gary Miller.
