The governing board of the Santa Ana Unified School District is encouraging parents and community members to offer comments on what qualities they want in their next superintendent, a spokeswoman said this week.

The Board of Education has scheduled a meeting with search consultant Richard Montgomery at 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The meeting will be at Martin R. Heninger Elementary School, 417 W. Walnut St., district spokeswoman Diane Thomas said.

The board will use community comments in its search for a superintendent to replace Rudy Castruita, who left recently to become San Diego County’s superintendent of schools.

Candidates for the job in the county’s largest school district must apply by Sept. 15 to Montgomery, P.O. Box 276230, Sacramento, Calif. 95827. The board is expected to name a new superintendent by late October, Thomas said.
