ALL THE KING’S MEN: Michael and Lisa Marie dueting at the Elvis Presley tribute in October? Maybe. The original band that backed Elvis in his early days? Maybe not.

The team putting together the show, scheduled for Oct. 8 at the Pyramid arena in Memphis, has been negotiating with guitarist Scotty Moore, drummer D.J. Fontana and backup singers the Jordanaires--the surviving musicians who helped shape Presley’s sound--about performing at the show.

The problem: They want to bring along Ronnie McDowell, an Elvis sound-alike country singer they’ve been working with for the past two years.

That package has already booked a show the same night in Indiana, but the tribute promoters have offered to pay off McDowell in order to free up the rest of the group.

“I’m not going to cancel on Ronnie,” says Moore, 62. “You just don’t do that.”

You can definitely catch the act (McDowell included) on Oct. 16 at the Shreveport (La.) Municipal Auditorium, 40 years to the day after the “Louisiana Hayride” show that helped spark Elvismania.
