OXNARD : Market Faces Loss of Liquor License

Share

The state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control will ask a judge next month to revoke the license of an Oxnard liquor store that has allegedly been selling beer and wine to minors for years.

ABC officials have filed a disciplinary action against the owner of the Stop N’ Save Market at 1037 Ventura Road after an investigation uncovered numerous license violations, said Ed Macias, supervisor at the Santa Barbara ABC office.

Lynrose Dimalanta, the store’s owner, has been cited 11 times since February for selling liquor to minors, authorities said. Before that, her father, T. Roman Paras, was cited nine times for the same offense, authorities said.

Dimalanta could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

ABC officials were trying to revoke Paras’ license when he canceled it, and his daughter subsequently obtained a permit to sell alcohol at the same store.

“He was in the process of being revoked on his own merits, but he canceled, and his daughter obtained a license based on her own moral character,” Macias said. “We had no reason legally to condemn the daughter.”

A trial date has been tentatively set for October. If Dimalanta’s license is revoked, she will never be able to obtain another one and no one will be permitted to sell alcohol from the site for one year.
