A 20-year-old man suspected of committing two robberies and shooting a man in the head during one of them was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport Saturday as he stepped off a plane from Tucson, police said.

Adam Fidel Gutierrez of Cypress was arrested following a two-month investigation by La Palma police, said Sgt. Ed Ethell.

Gutierrez, described by authorities as a member of a Hawaiian Gardens gang, is suspected of being one of two men who robbed a 7-Eleven on June 26 of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Ethell said that as Gutierrez and his accomplice left the store, they fired a shot at the store clerk as he attempted to write down their license plate. The clerk was not hit, he said.

Gutierrez is also a suspect in the Aug. 3 robbery of a Rockview Dairy located across the street from the convenience store.

During the second robbery, a man servicing a California Lottery machine inside the dairy was shot in the head but his injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Both businesses are located at the intersection of Crescent and Moody streets.

Gutierrez was being held at Buena Park City Jail on suspicion of attempted homicide and robbery, police said.
