This fall, cable is offering a mix of documentary series, informational shows, music series and even a new home shopping series.

The following are the new shows and series coming to cable, their time slots and premiere dates. (Cable subscribers should note that not all systems carry all the channels listed below.)

A&E;

“20th Century”: Mike Wallace is the host of a documentary series that chronicles the most dramatic stories in recent history. Sundays at 7 p.m. , beginning this week.

“The American Revolution”: This three-part series uses dramatic re-enactments, diaries, paintings and historical documents to illustrate the heroes, the battles and the time. Nov. 27-29 at 9 p.m.

AMC

“The Movie That Changed My Life”: Carol Burnett, Sugar Ray Leonard and Congresswoman Pat Schroeder are among the personalities who will discuss the films that influenced their lives. December.

BET

“Jazz Central”: Lou Rawls is one of the hosts of a performance-oriented series. Weeknights at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 26.

“BET Shop”: BET goes the home-shopping route with this weekly series. Saturdays at 2 p.m., beginning this week.

“The Color of Money”: Personal finance program. Saturdays at 5 p.m. Premieres Oct. 1.

THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL

“Start to Finish”: Susan Crenshaw and Mark Koebrich are hosts of a magazine-style series covering the world of collectibles, crafts and leisure-time hobbies. Weekdays at 10:30 and 2 p.m.; Sundays at 10 a.m. Premieres Sept. 26.

“Amazing America”: “Saturday Night Live’s” Kevin Nealon is the host of a series that looks at the strange and quirky side roads of American culture. Thursdays at 8:30 and 11:30 p.m. Premieres Sept. 29.

“The Know Zone”: San Francisco disc jockey Don Bleu is the host of an in-depth look at the latest in science, technology and inventions. Thursdays at 9:30 p.m.; Fridays at 12:30 and Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. Premieres Sept. 29.

“World of Wonder”: The series visits strange and exotic places to investigate astonishing stories. Thursdays at 8 and 11 p.m.; Sundays at 3:30 p.m. Premieres Sept. 29.

“The Brain: Our Universe Within”: Dr. David Suzuki is the host of a five-part series exploring our own minds. Oct. 2-3 at 9 p.m.; Oct 4 at 10 p.m.

“Rediscovering America with David Hartman”: The former “Good Morning, America” star offers insights into the nation’s history, as he revisits the Salem Witch Trial, Oct. 31 at 10 p.m., and presents the little-known tale of Buffalo Soldiers, Nov. 18 at 10 p.m.

E! ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION

“Q&E;!”: Eleanor Mondale moderates a question-and-answer show, executive produced by Brandon Tartikoff. Saturdays at 7 p.m. Already premiered.

THE LEARNING CHANNEL

“A Baby’s World”: A six-part series allows viewers to glimpse at the first two years of life from the baby’s point of view. Sunday at 5-8 p.m. and 8-11 p.m. Beginning Sept. 28, individual episodes will air Wednesdays at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

“Paleoworld”: Thirteen-part series re-creates the prehistoric past. Wednesdays at 5 and 8 p.m. Sundays at 6 and 9 p.m. Premieres Sept. 28.

“The Human Animal: A Natural History of the Human Species”: Desmond Morris (“The Naked Ape”) is the host of a six-part series that focuses on human beings at work and play in their natural habitat. Sundays. Premieres Jan. 1.

“Ancient Warriors”: Tracing the rise and fall of the Samurai, Vikings, Spartans and Spanish conquistadors. Mondays at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.; Thursdays at 6 and 9 p.m. Premieres Sept. 25.

“Body Atlas”: This 13-part series explores all the intricate systems that make the human body work. Wednesday at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.; Saturdays at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Premieres Sept. 28.

“Understanding”: Fundamentals of science are explored in a series that blends computer-generated graphics, cutting-edge animation, interviews and real-world footage. Sundays at 7 and 10 p.m. Premieres Oct. 30 at 8 and 10 p.m.

“Seven Wonders of the World”: Archeologist John Rohmer unlocks the secrets of the seven wonders of the world. TBA.

LIFETIME

“In the Name of Love”: Rachel Ward is the host of a weekly reality anthology series that utilizes footage and stills to tell some of the most romantic love stories in history. Saturdays at 9 p.m. Already premiered.

THE NASHVILLE NETWORK

“Wildhorse Saloon”: Country dancing from Nashville’s new hot dance spot. Weekdays at 4 p.m. Premieres Sept. 26.

“The Legends of Country Music”: Tammy Wynette is the host of a six-part weekly series in which she invites singers to perform with her and talk about their music. Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. On Nov. 10, Willie Nelson takes over as host for seven weeks.

“Yesteryear”: Rex Allen Jr. and Lisa Stewart emcee a spinoff of “The Statler Brothers Show.” Each week, hosts and music regulars, Eddy Raven and Kathy Bailie, will sing the hit tunes and present trivia and news clips from a “mystery” year revealed at the conclusion. Fridays at 5 p.m. Premieres Sept. 30.

“Charlie Daniels’ Talent Roundup”: Amateur talent contest hosted by country music’s Daniels and featuring the comedy team Williams & Ree. Saturdays at 4 p.m. Premieres Oct. 1.

SHOWTIME

“Directed By”: Laura Dern, Treat Williams, JoBeth Williams, Kathleen Turner, Danny Glover and Peter Weller go behind the camera and direct a short film in this six-part series. Sundays at 10 p.m. Oct. 2.

TBS

“The Native Americans”: Six-hour documentary focuses on the 500 tribes of Native Americans who existed in what is now the United States. Each one-hour segment focuses on a different geographic section of the U.S. Oct. 10, 11 and 13 at 5:05 and 7:05 p.m.
