COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Vega’s Goals Pace Rancho Santiago

Former Santa Ana Valley High star David Vega dominated the game, scoring seven goals for Rancho Santiago in an 18-10 season-opening water polo victory over Santa Monica Wednesday at Rancho Santiago.

Vega, who was the overall high-scorer last year with the Falcons, teamed with Rob Duval and Jay Rosales, who both had three goals each, to lead Rancho Santiago. Mike Gonzalez had 15 saves for the Dons.

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Saddleback 4, Chaffey 1--Lori Bowers had 19 kills, 15 digs and seven aces in the teams’ first match of the season. The Gauchos defeated Chaffey, 15-3, 13-15, 15-6, 16-14.
