As expected, All-Pro cornerback Deion Sanders ended his free-agent tour by rejecting several more lucrative offers in favor of a one-year, $1.1-million contract with the San Francisco 49ers. The deal includes $750,000 in incentives.

Sanders took part in workouts with his new team and hopes to play Sunday against the Rams.

In another move, the 49ers signed former Pro Bowl defensive end Charles Mann, who was released by the Washington Redskins.

After a half-day walkout before the season began, Sterling Sharpe was ensured of being the NFL’s highest-paid receiver from the 1995 season through the year 2000, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.

A new clause stipulates that Sharpe’s pay will equal the average yearly salary of the league’s highest-paid receiver, plus $1.

Sharpe’s deal was also sweetened for this season in which he will earn $2.7 million--third highest for a wide receiver--instead of the $1.3 million originally scheduled after the club triggered a $1.4-million escalator clause.
