THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN?

Share

Ken Burns has been miserable without professional baseball.

“I feel like there’s something missing in my life,” he says with a sigh. “I’m playing more baseball, which is nice, hitting balls and organizing scratch games. But I want my baseball.”

Burns doesn’t know if the strike will hinder or help his documentary. “I think we will be the only game in town until they settle their differences,” Burns says.

“I suppose that could be looked at in a positive light and a negative light. I hope that those people who are angry and frustrated with the game will look at our series to get a sense of the complicated history of labor--and to see a game that is much more glorious than the one that is not on the field now. If they’re going to flock to it, great.”
