PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS
With backup right tackle Darryl Ashmore sidelined because of a sprained knee, rookie Wayne Gandy will back up both left tackle Clarence Jones and right tackle Jackie Slater.
Gandy, a first-round draft pick who has struggled in the first three games, got most of his work in practice at right tackle.

As expected, the Rams re-signed wide receiver Todd Kinchen and put left guard Keith Loneker on the injured-reserve list because of a fallen arch. The Rams also worked out offensive lineman Roosevelt Patterson, a free agent from Alabama. . . . William White, the Chiefs’ starting free safety, suffered a sprained ankle and is questionable for Sunday’s game. . . . Kansas City quarterback Joe Montana was 12-7 as a San Francisco starter against the Rams, and the Chiefs are 7-0 at Arrowhead Stadium with Montana as their starter. . . . The Rams lead the series, 3-1, and are 2-0 at Arrowhead Stadium.
