Share

Century turned three Ocean View turnovers into touchdowns and knocked off the Seahawks, 39-13, in a nonleague game Friday at Westminster High School.

Ocean View did not get past the Century 40-yard line until the final seven minutes of the game and managed only 149 yards in offense. The Seahawks have lost 32 consecutive games, the longest losing streak in the state.

Neither team scored in the first quarter, but the Centurions took command in the second quarter with three touchdowns in a seven-minute span.

Century’s Richard Roa set up the first, recovering a fumble by running back Calvin Silva at the Seahawk 6. Robert Villegas plunged in from the one three plays later and Century led, 7-0.

On their next possession, Centurion quarterback Stanley Villanueva completed a 57-yard pass to Ignacio Vega to the Ocean View 22. The Centurions scored when Villanueva found Jorge Rodriguez in the flat for a 20-yard touchdown. Oscar Salcedo increased the Century lead, intercepting a Ted Norman pass on the next play from scrimmage and returning it 31 yards for a 19-0 lead.

Century padded the lead to 32-0 in the third quarter. Villanueva connected with Rodriguez on a 40-yard scoring play, and Luis Ramirez added a touchdown on a 31-yard fumble return.
