Capriati Withdraws From Tournament

Jennifer Capriati has pulled out of the Filderstadt tournament in Germany because she is not yet fit enough to stage a comeback, a spokesman said Saturday.

Filderstadt spokesman Dieter Fischer said Capriati’s manager, Barbara Perry, informed him the 18-year-old was “too immobile” to play in the tournament later this month.

A bus carrying the Quinnipiac College baseball team rolled over three times on a rain-slicked highway in New Haven, Conn., sending 14 to hospitals, police said. There were no serious injuries reported. The bus driver, Paul Torres, of West Haven, was cited for driving too fast for the conditions.

Police charged a man with the murder of a leading British racehorse trainer, found shot dead at his stables near the thoroughbred center in Newmarket, England. William O’Brien, 58, was arrested in open fields after Alex Scott, 34, who trained for several wealthy Arab owners, was found dead Friday at his farm with a gunshot wound to the chest.
