EAST LOS ANGELES : Friends of Library Plans Book Sale
The Friends of the East Los Angeles Library/Chicano Resource Center will hold a Dia de los Muertos book sale Saturday to benefit the library.
The event, which begins at 11 a.m. at the library, 4801 E. Third St., will also include arts and crafts, a garage sale and entertainment. It is in honor of Dia de los Muertos, the Mexican holiday commemorating the dead.
The Friends group formed more than a year ago to raise money and awareness for the library and Chicano Resource Center in the face of continuing budget cuts, which have resulted in fewer staff members and library hours.
