A fire destroyed $550,000 worth of art in Ojai on Tuesday morning, county officials said.

There were no injuries in the fire, which also caused $75,000 in damage to the house on San Gabriel Street, said Pam Sears, a county fire spokeswoman. Firefighter Mike Middough said an electrical short caused the fire about 8 a.m.

Middough said the damaged art included paintings and sculptures.

“They were burned completely,” Middough said. “All it was was charred picture frames on the walls.”

The home and the art were owned by Leonard and Linda Kiore, who own an Ojai wine and cheese store, officials said.
