Pacific League finals--Crescenta Valley senior Phil Gonzalez outkicked Hoover sophomore David Lopez to win the individual title, but Hoover placed five runners among the top 11 finishers to win the team title with a 31-point total.

Crescenta Valley, the two-time defending league champion, was second with 35, followed by Glendale with 79.

In the girls’ meet, Crescenta Valley had five of the top 10 finishers to win its first title in seven years. The Falcons--paced by Michelle Zayas’ second-place finish--totaled 32 points.

They were followed by two-time defending champion Glendale (54) and Hoover (68).

Channel League finals--Ventura sophomore Alyson MacIntosh won the individual title with a time of 18:05 at College Park in Oxnard, but her former teammates at Buena placed five runners among the top 11 finishers to win their 12th consecutive league championship.

Buena, led by the 2-3 finish of senior Amy Van Atta and sophomore Barb Almaraz, totaled 34 points, followed by Ventura (58) and Dos Pueblos (77).

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Chaminade 15, Louisville 3--Sophomore Rebecca Gross swept her singles matches without losing a game for the visiting Eagles in a Mission League match. The victory clinched the league championship for Chaminade (15-3, 13-1).

Rio Mesa 10, Dos Pueblos 8--Zuzana Stunova and Jessica Improta swept at No. 1 and 2 singles to help the Spartans (12-5, 8-4) clinch third place in the Channel League and a berth in the Division I playoffs.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

L.A. Baptist d. Village Christian, 15-9, 15-11, 15-7--The Knights (15-0, 8-0) wrapped up a perfect season in Alpha League play with the sweep. Darcie Frazier had a match-high 15 kills and Tunde Hrotko had 34 assists. Amber Hanson had 18 assists for Village Christian (9-7, 4-4).

Burroughs d. Hart, 10-15, 15-12, 15-12, 15-12--The Indians clinched their first Foothill League championship by winning a three-team tournament. They also defeated Canyon, 6-15, 15-10, 15-5. Burroughs (11-3 overall), Hart and Canyon were tied for first place at 6-2.

Thousand Oaks d. Channel Islands 15-6, 15-4, 15-11--Courtney Miller had seven kills and four aces as the Lancers clinched third place in the Marmonte League and a playoff spot. Sophomore middle blocker Jenn Detmer had five kills for Thousand Oaks (11-5, 10-4 in league play).

Louisville d. Flintridge Sacred Heart 15-2, 15-8, 11-15, 6-15, 15-11--Lauren Brownson had 21 kills and Audra Duda added 18 as the Royals (9-5, 7-3 in league play) clinched a playoff berth in a Mission League match.

WATER POLO

Santa Barbara 12, Buena 6--Brad Kittridge scored seven goals for the Dons in the Channel League match. Buena goalie Curtis Tolmie scored his second goal in two weeks on a length-of-the-pool shot in the fourth quarter.

Buena (12-13, 5-5) finished the regular season tied for third place with San Marcos, which will play host to Buena at 2:30 p.m. Saturday to determine the final playoff spot.

Crescenta Valley 16, Glendale 7--Joey Bennett scored four goals and Jon Conrad added three as the Falcons (22-4, 7-0) clinched the Pacific League title at Arcadia High.
