PREP EXTRA: SATURDAY FOOTBALL PULLOUT : SUNSET LEAGUE : Lisotto’s Three Scores Pace Edison

It was the Bradley Lisotto show Friday night as the senior tailback scored three touchdowns to lead No. 5 Edison to a 34-7 Sunset League victory over host Huntington Beach.

Lisotto caught two touchdown passes and rushed for one as the Chargers (7-2, 2-2) moved into a three-way tie with Marina and Fountain Valley for third place in league.

Edison will face Marina next week in the final regular season game, and Fountain Valley will take on top-ranked Los Alamitos.

The Chargers came out strong on their first drive, picking up five first downs and moving the ball 72 yards in two minutes. Quarterback Patrick Markovsky tossed a short pass to Lisotto, who weaved his way around defenders for a 14-yard touchdown play with 9 minutes 58 seconds left in the first quarter.

Edison’s defense then took over, holding the Oilers (1-8, 0-4) to 147 yards total offense and sacking James Bartusick six times.

After senior Kevin Bever kicked a 31-yard field goal midway through the first quarter, Lisotto took off again. After a 25-yard run, Lisotto then caught a 31-yard scoring pass from Markovsky to give the Chargers a 17-0 lead with 2:23 left in the first.

The Oilers’ only score came when defensive back Brenton Wood blocked a Bever punt and Huntington Beach was able to move the ball 37 yards. Bartusick threw 12 yards to wide receiver Dennis Masuda for the touchdown.

Edison began the second half just like the first. Defensive end Marcus Emhof recovered a Jason Locklin fumble on the Oilers’ 35-yard line. and six plays later Lisotto scored his final touchdown on a 20-yard run. Lisotto finished 105 yards on 17 carries and eight catches for 99 yards.

The Chargers scored twice in the fourth quarter. Bryan Lachapelle blocked a 42-yard field goal attempt by Bartusick, and the Chargers drove 57 yards for a touchdown, Markovsky’s one-yard run with 8:42 remaining. Bever then padded the score with a 45-yard field goal with 6:39 left.
