LOS ANGELES : Metrolink Offers Discount of 25% on December Passes

Share

Metrolink officials on Wednesday announced a 25% discount on December monthly passes, an offer aimed at increasing ridership of the regional commuter train network.

“This one-month promotion should serve as an unexpected bonus to our commuters,” said Larry Walker, Metrolink’s board chairman and a San Bernardino County supervisor.

“In this holiday season, we want to encourage potential riders to give us a try,” he said.

The price has been reduced partly because there are fewer commuter workdays in December because of the holidays and partly to keep riders in the habit of buying monthly passes, Walker said.

More than 70% of Metrolink passengers ride five days a week and the same percentage use monthly passes, according to recent surveys.

The one-month pass savings range from $20 to $72, depending on the number of zones and distance traveled. For example, a three-zone December monthly pass from Santa Clarita to Los Angeles will be $110 instead of $144.

The pass prices do not apply to one-way, round-trip or 10-trip tickets.

Monthly passes are good for unlimited trips during the calendar month. They can be purchased Nov. 22 through Dec. 10 at any Metrolink station ticket vending machine or at the Los Angeles Union Station ticket window.
