Fire at Substation Knocks Out Power
HUNTINGTON BEACH —
A fire in a Southern California Edison substation near the Huntington Beach Pier cut off power to about 15,000 customers in the northern section of the city as well as western Santa Ana, an Edison spokesman said.
Power was restored to all customers within 45 minutes, according to Ken Perry, a company spokesman.
The fire started just after 8 p.m., when a circuit breaker in the unoccupied substation failed, Perry said. Company officials went to the station and extinguished the blaze, which caused minor damage.
