PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Humphries Fine After Surgery

Share

Charger Coach Bobby Ross said Tuesday that quarterback Stan Humphries should be ready to start against the Rams on Sunday despite undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow Monday.

“The swelling was minimal and the pain is minimal,” Ross said. “Stan is fine. We’re expecting him to work (today). They took some loose bodies out of his elbow which was causing a lockup. It was an uncomfortable feeling to step underneath the center and have your elbow lock on you. It was a distraction.

“It was locking up on him two or three times in practice and then in the game. The final time was after the game when he went to put on his pants to leave. It locked up on him for about five minutes. They were concerned about deterioration to his elbow, and that’s why the surgery was now.”

John Shaw, Ram president, confirmed Tuesday that he had met with officials from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week in Los Angeles.

The Buccaneers are for sale and have been courted by St. Louis and Baltimore, two cities also vying for the Rams.

Jack Donlan, one of three people listening to bids for the Buccaneers, has been a long-time friend of Shaw’s, and Shaw said he stopped by for an update on the Rams’ situation.

The Rams are continuing to examine documents related to a possible move to St. Louis. Though St. Louis would like a decision by Dec. 1, Shaw said he does not expect a final determination before Dec. 5.
