A former member of the Simi Valley Boys and Girls Club board of directors has been named to serve as the club’s executive director.
Linda White will replace Rebecca Merrell, who left the post in September. White was on the club’s board of directors for six years, twice serving as president and more recently as vice president.
She was selected for the position by an ad-hoc committee of board members, club officials said. More than 100 people applied for the job.
White takes control of the day-to-day business of the club just as the organization begins construction of a $3.3-million clubhouse paid for by the city of Simi Valley. White is expected to help find donors to help pay the $1.5 million for a 45-year lease of the building, officials said.
