EL MONTE: The City Council has authorized the purchase of a police helicopter after renting one since September, 1993. The helicopter will cost $90,000 plus $400,000 for maintenance over the first five years and will allow more time in the air than the rented helicopter did.
GLENDORA: The council approved development plans for a Super K mart at Lone Hill Avenue and Gladstone Street, including 303,500 square feet of commercial space with the sale of alcoholic beverages, a satellite transmission facility and an automotive repair garage.
PASADENA: Council members placed a measure on the March ballot to limit the amount the city can take annually from its water and power company to 8% of its profits. The city currently takes about 10% of utility profits a year.
SOUTH PASADENA: Former Mayor Lee D. Prentiss will accept $500,000 from the city for violating his civil rights, his attorney said. A jury had awarded Prentiss $1.2 million after agreeing with his claim that city officials had withdrawn a building permit as political retaliation. A judge reduced the verdict last month. The City Council must agree to the settlement as well.
