San Juan Capistrano : Choirs to Join Lighting Ceremony Tonight
Choral groups from local schools will sing tonight at Mission San Juan Capistrano as part of the city’s tree-lighting festivities, which begin at 6 p.m. at Del Obispo Street and Ortega Highway.
Choirs from elementary schools and high schools will perform from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. in the mission’s center courtyard following the tree-lighting ceremony and flashlight procession.
A Las Posadas procession will leave from the mission at 7:30 p.m. and travel to the Los Rios Historic District, where a live Nativity pageant is planned.
Las Posadas is a Mexican celebration that enacts the search for lodging by Mary and Joseph.
The event is free to the public. Those who attend are encouraged to wear warm clothes and bring a flashlight.
