Police are investigating the weekend shooting of a man who apparently was critically wounded by two men who knew him.
Peter Montano, 35, was shot twice in front of his home in the 1800 block of Moorpark Drive at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Ed McDonald.
Montano, who manages an auto parts store in Los Angeles, has not regained consciousness since being airlifted to an undisclosed hospital, McDonald said.
Neighbors told police that after he was shot with a handgun, Montano told them his two male attackers knew him. The attackers fled in a maroon car.
“He knew the people that were involved” but the nature of their relationship will not be known until he can be interviewed at the hospital, McDonald said.
He said that Montano’s residence had been burglarized several weeks ago.
“I don’t know if it’s related or not to the shooting,” he said.
Residents were shaken by the attack, McDonald said.
“They’re all scared and concerned about a shooting in the neighborhood,” he said. “It’s not something that happens there.”
